Alma Darling
On April 13, 2011, a loving Father opened His arms and welcomed home a favored, loving child after 81 years of service to the world and her family and friends
Alma June Darling, of Polson, MT passed to a better life after her body gave up this world. Alma Darling was born on March 31, 1930 in Lansing, MI. She married LeRoy Darling on March 29, 1947. Together they brought six children to life. They moved from Portland, MI to Polson in 1974.
Alma was the ultimate mom, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and a shining example of God’s love for all her children. She was active and a very giving member of her church.
Despite the many hardships and disappointments that this worldly life often yields, Alma never lost her love of God and family. Her life enhanced the life of all those who knew her and she will be sorely missed by everyone. She was a shining example of how important giving and sharing of yourself brings light and meaning to the lives of others. She fulfilled all the hopes and dreams that her Heavenly Father wished of her, and the life she was given.
Alma is preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy, and three sons, Dan, Duey, and Dean Darling.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathy of Montana and Keyna of Michigan; a son, Dennis of Michigan, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He passing now leaves an eternal and lasting message to all, “Live your life with true and sincere honor and integrity; then bless all with understanding and forgiveness and real love! May God Bless All!”
A memorial service for Alma will be held on Monday, April 18, 2011, 2:00 PM at JourneyBe Christian Church, 101 7th Ave. W., Polson, with Rev. John Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson with a reception following at the church. All are welcome.

My grandmother was the best and strongest woman I have ever known I am a better person because of her. She showed me that no matter what this life hands you faith in the lord can get you through. She had no doubts where she would end up when her life here came to an end. She is always in my heart. I was blessed to be as close to her as I was and will miss our lengthy phone calls. My love and the love of my family are with you in these days of sorrow.
Aunt Alma was wonderful, I will always remember sitting on Grandma and Grandpa’s (Barb and Bill) porch with them when they came to visit and Alma would get Grandma laughing so hard and Pete and Grandpa would keep it going. Loved them and the joy they brought to our lives. She will be missed.

My sincere condolences to all of your family. Although we have lost track of everyone over the years, I remember your family visiting us on Okemos Rd. in Portland. You may remember your dad building the addition to our barn.
I’m sorry I didn’t get to visit your mother while she was in MI last summer.
Ben sent me the notice. She will always be remembered for her red hair and smile.
God be with all of you.

Grandma Alma will always have special place in our hearts. We are so happy she gets to be with Petey and all her boys. We have so many memories with her and Petey. She loved her family soooooo much, always talked of them and kept us up to date on how they were all doing. They shared their life and all they had. We have missed Pete for so many years and now we will miss Alma. Praise be to our Lord Jesus for making a way for us to be in eternity together one day. Alma’s biggest concern and desire that she expressed was that all her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and those to come would know Jesus as their personal friend so that they could all be heaven one day together. The best gift that we could give to Alma, would be to make sure we have a place in heaven by seeking the Lord with all our hearts and committing our lives to Him so we can be sure to be in eternity too. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We send our love, Cindy and David Ottun
Since I moved away from Polson, Alma has been my phone buddy. We will always cherish the time that we had with her smiley face and cheerful outlook on life. She will be in our hearts and prayersw forever, we will surely miss her. God bless you all.
To Kathy and your siblings. . .I am so deeply sorry to hear of Alma’s passing yet I know she has been welcomed with open arms by our God. Alma worked with me at the Area VI Agency on Aging and at the Miracle of America Museum and I always found her to be a wonderfully delightful lady with a very friendly personality. She always had something nice to say to everyone she met and always greeted them with a warm smile. I will always remember Alma as a true friend. She will be missed by many.
You had a mother to be very proud of Kathy but I am sure she will still be watching over all of you from her new home in Heaven.
She’s also survived by 3 brothers, Carl Hayes, Kenneth Hayes & Thurston Hayes all of Michigan.
Alma was indeed a special person on this Earth. Her home was a welcomed retreat when I was a school kid and classmate of son, Dean. We watched Match Game and Mary Tyler Moore shows by the hour, and ate grilled cheese sandwiches. She will be sorely missed. My deepest and abiding condolences for her daughters and family. I am grateful to have had the priveledge of knowing Alma and calling her my friend.
With respect, Wendy
