Obituary for Laura Marie "Babe" Carpentier

Laura Marie "Babe" Carpentier
Laura Marie (David) Carpentier, AKA “Babe”, age 68, passed away on January 4, 2018 peacefully in her home, after battling COPD and Emphysema for a few years. Babe was born June 17, 1949 in St. Ignatius, MT to Leo and Regina “Jeanie” (Senecal) David.

Growing up, Babe and her family lived in California and several places in Montana. Babe married Jesse James “Jake” Carpentier on September 14, 1968. They started their large lovely family December of 1968, having a total of six children.

During their marriage they lived in Ronan, St. Ignatius and Pablo. Babe and Jake took many of their children’s friends under their wings. Babe called them her children from another mother.
They did things and took neighborhood kids along on adventures to the lake or up in the woods.

Babe worked over the years at the old Dixon Post and Pole Yard, Head Start and a few other places.

Babe was a great daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Babe was well known for speaking her mind and saying things as she saw them.

Racing was in her blood. It was where she liked to spend her time with family and friends. She was also known for her crocheted items and giving them as gifts. She also enjoyed going to Bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jake Carpentier, daughter Cynthia (Cindy) Carpentier, parents, Leo David and Jeanie (Senecal) David; brothers, Francis David, Albert David and Lenny David who died as a toddler.

She is survived by her children, Brenda (Rick) Dolence, Christopher “Chris” (Shaylene) Carpentier, Brandi (Chase) Toulou, Ginger (Mike)Drake and Shawn (Sonya) Carpentier; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her half - brother Alfred (Felix) McCullough; half-sister Dawn (Pinky) Clute; as well as many nieces and nephews, in-laws and cousins.

There will be a Rosary on January 12 at 8:00 P.M. at the Long House in St. Ignatius, MT. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the St. Ignatius Catholic Church. A special thanks to the Hospice Nurses, Debbie and Pam and the Kerr Elder program for providing Pat Ashley to help the family care for our mom. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
