I met Chris when I was working at Tribal Law and Order. When he’d come in he always had words of encouragement and a story to share. He made the night shift a little easier and the highways a lot safer. Even after I left law and order and would see him, he always took the time to say hi. He will be missed.
Our prayers and condolnces are with you
I was pleased to say Chris was a friend and not just a co-worker. I loved it when he would come into the office or pull along aside me on the road and tell a story. He would always say he would keep it short. Chris did not know how to keep it short. He was so animated when he told the stories. He was true genuine person. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy to his family.
We’re so very sorry to hear of your loss. Chris was such a fine young man. He was a great help to our daughter last winter when she hit a cow on the highway at night near St Ignatius. He went out of his way to help more when he didn’t have to.
I know how proud Ross & Darlene must have been of him in his accomplishments. Our hearts go out to you!
Sincerely,
Keith & Toni Wock

Chris Hoyt was a great person and we will all miss him. As far as an MHP Trooper goes, there is no doubt in our minds that a lot of people are here today because Chris did his job every time he went out.
Montana definitely got what they paid for many times over. Thank you Chris! Thank you Ross and Darlene for what you instilled in Chris that made him who he was. Our thoughts are with you at this time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
I would like to express my sympathies to Chris’s family on his passing; I want you to know that I and my family felt a lot safer in our home because Chris was just down the street. God takes the good, the young and the unselfish, may Chris make heaven an even safer and tranquil place for us when we arrive and meet once again.
Heaven became a brighter place on Sunday! It was an honor to know and work with Chris. My heart and prayers are with all his family and loved ones. May God keep and comfort all of you during this time and all rememberances to come.

So sorry to learn of this tragic accident. Reading the other tributes, he truly seems to have been a person who went out of his way to help others. He has well represented not only the Patrol , but also his family. I’m sure he will be missed by the community.

Chris was one of the good guys you felt it in his handshake you saw it in his constant smile your heard it in his voice, sincere statements and words I was happy for him when he became a highway patrolman he was proud to wear the uniform and they were lucky to have him I missed being able to see and talk to him once he got out of the dock bussiness but still enjoyed a wave as we passed him in the patrol car Ross & Darline you raised him to be a wonderful man and someone who made this world a nicer place.. I know you are strugling with unrelenting pain, having buried a son last October know the kind of pain & hundreds of unanswered questions that are running thru your hearts & minds it the weeks and months to follow it does get a little better take care of yourselves and our thoughts will be with you
Due to prior commitments this week I cannot make the Memorial for Trooper Christopher Lee Hoyt. However, my sincere condolences goes out to his family and friends, and to the Montana State Highway Patrol. It’s a sad day for America and Law Enforcement nationwide when we lose such officers as Trooper Hoyt. Be strong and take courage, do not fear or be dismayed for the one who lives within you, will be strong in you today.
