schriner-cj-photoC. J. Schriner, 76, died Friday morning (Dec. 5) at his home in Polson. He was born on the family homestead near Franktown, Colorado August 15, 1932 to Gerald Schriner and Ruth (Mead) Schriner and was raised and educated in the Franktown area. He served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Bernita Danner in 1953 at Castle Rock, CO; they were later divorced and she preceded him in death in 1999. During his life, C.J. had worked in farming and ranching and later as a mechanic for Cummings Implement. He had lived in the greater Mission Valley area for a long period of time, residing at Charlo, St. Ignatius and Hot Springs before coming to Polson over 15 years ago. C.J. had a life-long love of horses and had been an excellent horseman. His great-grandsons Riley (“Wild Bill Hickock”) and Devon (“the Debil”) along with all the other kids that he helped watch brought a great deal of joy to his life. Also preceding him in death were his parents, a step-son, Marine Sgt. Gayman Ogbourn and great-grandchild Kyra Hansen. He is survived by his present wife, Rhonda at the family home in Polson; daughters Terra Hartwell (Ron) of St. Regis, Mt.; Vaughnita Schriner (Richard) of Manzanola, CO; and Ronda Armstrong (Dave) of Superior, MT; a sister, Mary Ann Anderson (Bob) of Franktown, CO; a brother, Donald Schriner (FlorAnn) of Kiowa, CO; 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren as well as extended family members Bobbie McLeod, Mitch and Thurston James, Timber Pulse, Jay and Crystal Pulse and Jason Conn, all of Polson.
