Jack J. Clay, 64, of Ronan, MT, passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from natural causes.

Jack was born on May 19, 1944 in Scobey, MT to Alvin & Ardes Clay and spent most of his younger years in Seeley Lake, MT.

He married Yvonne Day on July 17, 1966 in Hamilton, MT and worked construction for Nickelson Paving and for over twenty years as a superintendent with Peter Kiewit Construction. He worked throughout the western United States & Montana. He retired to the Mission valley.

Jack enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and packing. He especially enjoyed his horses.

He is preceded in death by his father, Alvin, brother, Dick, and his father and mother in-law, Art and Burneal Day.

He is survived by his wife Yvonne of Ronan, 3 children- Colette Moore of Missoula, Daun Edens of Missoula & Jason Clay of Polson, 4 granddaughters- Chasity, Chelsie, Natasha & Jennifer and two great-grandchildren- Kaci & Mitchell, and his mother Ardes Clay of Kalispell. He is also survived by 4 sisters- Jody (Ed) Townsend of Bigfork, MT, Debbie Clay of Kalispell, Donna West of Billings & Carol Nelson of Great Falls, MT, brothers-in-law, Arthur (Linda) Day of Hamilton, MT and Wayne (Jane) Day of Suisun City, CA, sisters-in-law, Lavetta Clay of Mountlake Terrace, WA and Adele (Mike) Poltle of Santa Ana, CA, and his cousin who was like a brother to him, Jim (Connie) Clay of Missoula, MT.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8,2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grogan Funeral Home in Polson.

    Yvonne, please know that you are on my mind and in my heart at the very difficult time for you. I will miss Jack very much. Even though both of you would come in only once a year to the office, Jack and I would have our lengthy discussion about the stock market and where it was going or not going.
