    Jay William Jacobs age 76 of Polson passed away on Monday August 24, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital in Polson from natural causes.  He was born March 4, 1933 at Sioux City, Iowa to William and Sophia Walgenbach Jacobs.  Jay served in the Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds that he suffered on November 12, 1952.   He was discharged from the service in Oct. 1953. 

   After his discharge from the service he worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Davis California for 30 years.  Jay and Donna Mae Balukoff were married in Woodland, California January 2, 1954.  Jay was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight.  He enjoyed motorcycle riding, gardening, camping, target shooting and reloading his ammo.

   His parents, a baby sister and a great granddaughter Natashai Jacobs preceded him in death. Jay is surivived by his loving wife Donna Mae Jacobs, sons; William (Lova) Jacobs, of Polson and Martin (Margaret) Jacobs of Vacaville, California, sister Mary Clare Watkins of Davis, CA. and a brother Robert (Stella) Jacobs of Davis, CA, 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

   A vigil service will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at 7:00 pm in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009 at 12 Noon in the church with Father James Connor officiating.  Military honors will follow at the church.  Inurnment at Lakeview Cemetery.  Condolences to the family at www.groganfuneralhome.com
