J.D. Dennis

J. D. Dennis, 69, of Polson, MT passed away at his home
on Sept. 3, 2010 surrounded by his family.
James Leroy Dennis was born on May 14, 1941 in Yuba City, Calif. to Cliffton L. & Elizabeth Dennis. He moved to Malta, MT as a child. He attended schools in Malta. J.D. joined the US Army in 1960. After his discharge from the Army, J.D. returned to Malta.
He married Mary Jennings and they had four children together: Denice, Veronica, William & Susie. They later divorced.
He later moved to Big Timber, MT and purchased the “City Club Lanes & Lounge” and eventually sold that business in 1978 at which time he moved to Polson.
He married Marlene Riebe in 1981 and she survives him at the family home in Polson.
J.D. was an entrepreneur & lived a full life. He was a wagon master and had started several wagon trains in Big Timber, Elko, NV. & for the bicentennial in Montana. J.D. also loved to ice fish
His parents and a brother Larry Dennis precede him in death.
He is survived by his wife Marlene Dennis of Polson & nine children: Denice Clark of Big Timber, Veronica Martinz of Denver, CO, William Jennings of Elko, NV, Susie Phares of Big Timber, Churck Williams of Polson, Rory Williams of Oklahoma, Jalene McDonald, Julia Williams & Crystal Williams all of Polson. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and one more on the way and numerous other relatives.
A memorial gathering will take place on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Mission Valley Elks in Polson. Military honors will be presented outside of the Elks at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.

I am so sorry for your loss. JD was a special person to a lot of people and will be greatly missed. I will always hold my memories of JD close to my heart and smile when I think of him. He was one of a kind – the good kind! But then you already know that.

Marlene and Jaye………..my thoughts are with you. We had lots of great conversations with JD in the old South Shore days.
