Jerolyn Schiele LaFromboise, 52, of Arlee, MT, passed away on Thursday, August 27,2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeri was born on July 27, 1957 in Polson, MT, a daughter of Harold Schiele of Pablo and Lois Ashley of Pablo. Jeri was a special woman with a huge heart. She always put everyone else before herself. She was the glue that held everyone together and the voice of reason when you needed good advice. Jeri worked hard her whole life. She held many different jobs, from nurse’s assistant to restaurant manager. In 1992 she started working for the US Postal Service, and was the rural carrier in Charlo until 2000 then she and her husband moved to Arlee, where she was the rural carrier there until the cancer forced her to quit in March of 2009.

Jeri had a soft spot for animals and loved to be out in the field with her horses, Little Boy, Maggie, and Cimmeron. They were a very special part of her life. She also had a rescue dog she named Orphan Annie that she found on her mail route and nursed back to health with no help at all from her jealous cat, Catrine. Jeri also loved to ride her Harley Davidson motorcycle alongside her husband Jeff. When she wasn’t on her horses or her motorcycle she enjoyed baking, spending time with her family, and going to the Griz games and concerts.

Jeri is survived by the love of her life, Jeff LaFromboise of Arlee, her daughter Codi (Rod) VanNess of Polson, her mother and stepfather, Bill and Lois Ashley of Pablo, father and stepmother, Harold and Eda Schiele of Pablo, her brothers Dale (Pam) Schiele of Phoenix, Arizona, Billy Ashley of Pablo, her sisters, Rhonda Hogan of Chandler, Arizona, Barb (Dwayne) Hill of Sweetwater, TX, her brother in law, Lois Conrad (Maryellen) LaFromboise of Browning, Don (Elyse) LaFromboise of Butte, sister in law Lois Slater of Pablo, Lorna Morgan of Spokane, WA, Vicki LaFromboise of Bozeman, Lori (Dan) Harris of Tacoma, WA and Lori LaFromboise. She is also survived by her “other 2 kids”, Angela (Chad) Cole, and Iain Hogan and many more nieces and nephews who were all very special to her, each in their own way.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Ashley, her beloved grandparents, George and Elva Doney and Martin and Elsie Schiele, her special aunt and uncle Bernice and Woody Ridnour and, her father in law, Robert LaFromboise, mother in law, Rose LaFromboise, her brother in laws, T.J., Steve, Roy and Robert LaFromboise, and her sister in law, Maryellen LaFromboise.

Our lives were all blessed to have Jeri in them. She made our lives rich with her kindness and love. WE WILL MISS YOU JERI. Rest well “Holy Horse Woman” – Natoyi-Ponoka-mitaa-ki.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2009, 1:00 PM at the Jocko Valley Baptist Church in Arlee, MT with Rev. Kenny Prewett officiating. Pallbearers will be Dale Schiele, Billy Ashley, Rod VanNess, Chad Cole, Jason Matt and Don LaFromboise. Cremation will take place after the funeral services. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family online at www.groganfuneralhome.com. Grogan Funeral Home, Polson, is assisting the family.

  3. Debbie Arlint Klein says:

So sorry to hear that our childhood friend has passed away. Even though we didn’t see each other much in our adult lives I still think of your family often. Lorilie has kept us updated on Jeri. I still remember Jeri’s laugh from when we were little. Her smile would brighten anyone’s day. Memories of the good old days when all of us kids were running the streets in Pablo are precious to me. Our prayers are with you now. My God bring you comfort and peace.

  4. Judy Zaniewski says:

  6. Bryan and Sharilyn Schiele says:

Jeri embodied joy and hospitality. She was constantly interested and involved in the lives of others. She would open her home to traveling teenagers and newly married couples. Whenever there was a special event, she made every effort to be there and share in the celebration. Her humor and uncanny ability to make others laugh along with her, even in difficult times, will never be forgotten. For those in her family and those close to her, there is so much that we lost from her passing but so much that we gained from her life. Let us not hold on to the sorrow we now feel but, as she would have wanted, let us hold on to the joy and the happiness she gave us while she was here.

  7. Kimberly Barber says:

Jerilyn has been a part of our lives for as long as I can remember. She was a great auntie and friend and always did great things for all the nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. Up until her last breath, she still had a sense of humor. We were almost always laughing when she was around and when we were little kids up until adulthood, we would always want to be at Auntie Jeri’ & Uncle Jeff’s house! She brought great happiness to our Uncle Jeff and our entire family and we will always be thankful for that. We will miss you greatly!!!! Rest in peace.

  8. Barb Delarosa says:

Jeri was an angel sent from Heaven to be with us for a while here on earth. Jeri always took care of others, making sure they were included and taken care of. She truly was an angel. Jeri’s work here is done, and now she has returned to Heaven to wait there for the rest of us. We are truly blessed to have known her. She will be missed.

  9. Jeff $ Pattie Phillips says:

Jeri was a very special woman, we are blessed to have known her for the time we did. Thank you, Jeri for the unselfish love you gave to everyone. You will be greatly missed.

May peace surround the family during this time.

  10. Lorene "Lori" LaFromboise says:

Our Jeri~ everyone who knew of her, was touched by her kindness at one time or another Her heart was bigger than she. Jeri was so much more than a friends, sister-in-law, wife, mom, sister, auntie, nana, mother-in-law. She was a Guardian Angel on earth. So pure at heart. Jeri & Jeff were always there to lend a helping hand and we’re usually the first ones we called for help, and the never asked anything in return.
We will miss ~ seeing her smile, her beautiful smiling blue eyes, hearing her voice, her laugh, having her listening ear, asking for her advice. But I think that when we think of her – Jeri would want us to remember times we laughed together, remember all the good times and making the best of the hard times. The Creator has taken her on to her next stage – she is so much stronger now – we we’re blessed to know her on earth – we will continue to be blessed for she is still looking out for us all, AS USUAL! We Miss You So Jeri – Please tell all our loved ones how much we miss them when you see them! Give them all a huge hug & our love! I miss you Jeri – My prayers are with you and Jeff & and all the family for strenght through this time and times to come. Love Your-Sis-In-Law Lori, and Royce, Josef, Kaiden, Ashlyn.

  12. Joan & Bob O'Hara says:

I have just finished reading all the condolence notes for Jeri andd there is so little I can add. Jeri & I were “phone buddies” with many hours spent sharing our lives and feelings. Her nephew and my grandson (Iain) brought us together and I feel blessed to have known her, although I wish it could have been in person. Jeff, my prayers are now for you for strength to go on with only memories. It’s a long road and I’m sure she is attending to you with our heavenly Father where she sits on His right-hand side. I hope to meet you, also, in the future.

    With love, Joan (and Bob)

  13. Logan LaFromboise says:

Jeri is at home with Jesus now, and free from all her pains and suffering. May her husband Jeff be comforted from his loss of his beloved wife. May Jeri’s mother Lois be blessed and find comfort from the loss of her first born. She will be missed forever by all.

  16. Elisa LaFromboise says:

From the minute I met Jeri I knew I had an instant friend for life. The greatest gifts are found in the hearts of true friends and she was one of them for me. I will miss Jeri with her beautiful big smile that captured you whenever you walked into the room. I will also miss my Rock n’ The Rivers buddy, drinking coffee in the morning (with flavored creamer of course) and running to the Mosh Pit when the bands started playing. Especially when Too Slim played. Shopping at all the vendors was always an adventure because I could guarantee that Jerolyn would choose a dress that she liked and usually had some kind of tye dye on it. My eyes always go to those kinds of clothes and designs now. Her joyous laugh at all the crazy things we encountered at the Rivers was contagious. It will not be the same now. I am so very glad that my kids got to know their Aunt Jeri and be a part of her life and that my life is fuller because I got to be a part of her’s. I love you Jerolyn LaFromboise and I will miss you dearly my friend. Love Always and Forever, Elisa

  17. Evelyn Hocker-Brugger says:

Jeri was one of my best friends at Ronan High School. After I left Ronan, I never looked back except to visit my parents at our family farm. I often wondered what had become of everyone and thought about my friendship with Jeri. We used to ride horses together. I am so sorry to hear she has passed from this world without my getting to say good-bye.

My sincere condolences to all of you–her family!

    Sincerely,

Evelyn Brugger (she called me Evie Hocker)

  18. Stacey Hill-Martin says:

We all love and miss Jeri, my second mom. She is one of the greatest people I know. I have had a special place in my heart for her and the family since childhood. She nurtured us through good times and bad and still loved us and made us do yard work and housework and jumping jacks till we puked (right Codi) LOL!!! I am thankful for the time we spent throughout my years. The trips to Missoula and Browning and Washington and Elmo will never be forgotten. Thanks Jeri for your advice, your discipline and most of all your willingness to tolerate us all those years.
Thank you Codi, for being my friend and accomplice. I will always cherish the times we spent. We will get through this.

Dear Jeff and family of Jeri, I would like to express my condolences to you. 27. Tiffany Martinez (Hill) says:

I don’t know if I can add anything to what has already been said, but Jeri was a very special person to me. I love my “Auntie Jeri” very much, she was my favorite aunt. She was never to busy to send a birthday card or Christmas presents. She did her best to be there for me and my family whenever we had weddings, graduation, etc. and if she couldn’t come, we could always count on a card and a phone call. Her unselfishness has inspired me and I admire her so much. Her life was an example of generosity and love. Every time I think of Montana and our summer trips up there, I think of Jeri and Jeff first. She was always so much fun and so full of laughter. I am so thankful that I was able to spend a week with her before she passed away. I will remember that time we had for the rest of my life. I still can’t believe she is gone, but she will live on in my heart and in many others forever. My thoughts and prayers are with my Uncle Jeff, Codi, Rod, Grandma and Grandpa, and everyone else. I love you all very much.
