Kraig Randall Myers

Kraig Randall Myers was born in Polson, Montana on August 14, 1974.  He attended school in Ronan, graduating from Ronan High School in 1992.  He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Montana State University in 1996 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State University in 2000.  He practiced veterinary medicine in Great Falls, Montana and later in Charleston, South Carolina.  He was residing in Summerville, South Carolina at the time of his death on October 5, 2011.

Kraig was an avid outdoors enthusiast, and enjoyed jogging, hiking, camping, hunting, fishing, and gold panning.  He also enjoyed writing and had aspirations of becoming a published writer.  Another favorite pastime was watching football, and he had recently commented that he was going to be hard pressed to know who to root for when the Griz and Cats meet later in the season.  Growing up, Kraig was the one who always knew just what to say to lighten a moment.  When he left for college, his quick wit was sorely missed by the rest of his family.

Kraig is survived by his daughter Ashleigh of Great Falls, his parents Rob and Jan Myers of Ronan, his brother Kevin and nephew Brett of Ronan, his special friend Zarella Butler of Summerville, South Carolina, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bob and Shirley Myers and Jack and Dealia Peel.

A celebration of Kraig’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 12th, at 1:00 p.m. at the Ronan Alliance Church, with Jeff Corum and Dewey Obenchain officiating.

Messages of condolence may be sent to the family online at www.groganfuneralhome.com. The staff of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory, Polson, considers it a privilege to care for the Myers family.

Kraig was a great friend through vet school. Those years were great fun, but also hard work. He had a way of just smiling and lightening the mood. It just made you feel better. He will be missed by more people than he likely realized. My thoughts are with his family.

  19. Dana Dortch says:

Don’t think of him as gone away–
    his journey’s just begun
    life holds so many facets
    this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
    that we could know today
    how nothing but our sadness
    can really pass away.

And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched…
for nothing loved is ever lost–
and he was loved so much.

    Rob, Jan, Kevin and Ashleigh,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family during this time. Kraig was a wonderful person who will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

  39. Sue Thompson and family says:

Gosh, what a great loss for all. I was so sad to hear today of Kraig’s passing, so sad… I rode with and worked with Kraig when he was in Great Falls and I was proud to know him, learn from him and to call him my friend. I remember how we were struggling with the first outbreak of the West Nile and each time we came to a place with a suffering horse he showed so much compassion and care. I was not only impressed, I was humbled by him. One time we went to a clients home to put her old horse down and the owner was so torn up that we helped the mare to pass on and we both stood and held the woman while she cried. By the time Kraig and I got back to the truck we were both teared up. My family and I had him here for meals many times during his work day as I knew he didn’t stop to eat, just worked. He brought Ashley here many times and we very much enjoyed her- he adored his little girl. We are truly sorry for your loss and pray that God will heal your hurt, you pain and your heart.
