Marianne H. Goff, 82, of Pablo, MT, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at Polson Health and Rehabilitation in Polson.

Marianne was born on February 24, 1927 in Breman, Germany, the daughter of the late Heinrich and Maria Witte and graduated from the local school in Breman. In December of 1948, Marianne left her native Germany to begin her life in the United States and came through the gates of Ellis Island, NY with the hopes of realizing the American dream. She later went to school in the United States and obtained her US Citizenship on July 29, 1954, which was one of the accomplishments that made her most proud.

In 1951, Marianne married Bernard R. Wilson in Los Angeles, CA and had three children together; a daughter, Florence Haninger, and two sons, Norman and Danny Wilson, now both deceased. Marianne and Bernard later divorced in 1960.

While in California, Marianne worked in the Dietary Department at St. Jude’s Hospital, the Birdhaven Convalescent Hospital, and the Paramount Unified School District.

Marianne was an accomplished accordionist and organist. She enjoyed everything from square dancing to the jitterbug in her younger years. Prior to losing her eyesight, she crocheted and knitted for her family and friends. She loved the changing seasons of Montana, finding the most beauty in the falling snowflakes of winter. She loved all animals and cared deeply for her two furry companions, Heidi and Jackpot.

She was a devoted friend and enjoyed her special friendships that spanned the decades. Her weekly chats with Marge, Oleta, Wanda, and Carol brought her such happiness over the years. Marianne was happiest loving daily the family around her and enjoyed the very special bond she had with her grandson, Michael.

Marianne leaves behind her loving daughter, Florence Haninger and husband Fritz of Pablo, MT, a dear grandson, Michael Rasmussen, and two special great granddaughters, Kristina and Heather.

Cremation has taken place and there are no public services scheduled. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family online at www.groganfuneralhome.com. Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory, Polson, is assisting the family.

We only met briefly, but it was clear she was a gentlewoman with a very kind heart. Now she’s free to move on to the next great adventure.

Marianne, I will miss you on my yearly visits to Montana. Now Flo will be forced to listen to my nonsence instead of you. I will miss all of your jokes and the visual of you saying, “Ooooh is that so!” xxxxxxoooo Your Second Daughter, Sandra
