Lily Bielby died from natural causes at St. Luke Extended Care in Ronan at the age of 93. She was born October 11, 1913 in Bowbells, North Dakota to Niels “Pete” and Christine Andersen. She was the youngest of five children. Her siblings were Myrtle (Rungborg), Harvey, Clifford and Andrew who all preceded her in death. In 1916, the family moved to Dagmar, Montana. She graduated from the 8th grade at Hawthorne school where she attended all eight grades. In her later teens, she went to Chicago and worked for a Jewish family, and later she moved to New Orleans and worked as a cooks’ helper on a Plantation. She moved to California in 1936 where she met and married Henry “Brownie” Brown, a truck driver. They lived in Oakland for the first few years and then moved to Orland, CA in the spring of 1943. In 1944, they moved back to MT and Lily was back “home”. Henry went into a partnership with Lily’s brother, Harvey, and they ran an International Harvestor Implement Agency. In the late 40’s they moved to Polson and bought a house on the East Shore of Flathead Lake. They enjoyed spending winters in Mesa, AZ. When Henry’s health deteriorated, they moved into an apartment in town. Henry passed away on April 1st, 1967. Lily remained single for many years and then married Rusty Bielby on January 25, 1977. They enjoyed a wonderful life together until he passed away in September of 1996. Neither Lily nor Rusty ever had any children, but they enriched the lives of so many people who loved them. They both received the Jefferson Awards from Governor Schwinden, because of all their kindly acts. Many people had written letters nominating them for the award. They met trains and planes, shopped and brought food for ill friends and neighbors, chauffeured people to the doctor appointments and cooked holiday dinners for those who were alone and had no family around. They did countless other “Good Samaritan” deeds. Lily loved music, dancing, and a good time and was dearly loved by all her nieces and nephews and by two “little” girls she adored. She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews; Kermit Andersen of Ronan, Gordon Rungborg of St. Ignatius, Neil Andersen of Reserve, MT, Verlyn Andersen, Arleen Dale, Clarice Caporusso, and Ardith Kuss all of CA, Darrel Andersen of St. Helens, OR, Ardell Nelson of Homestead, MT, and Velma Madsen of Ronan. A visitation will be on Wednesday April 11, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. and will continue on Thursday April 12, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Grogan Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at the Grogan Funeral Home on Thursday April 12, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.groganfuneralhome.com.
