Virginia Marie Wegner

Virginia Marie Wegner, 88, went home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2010 at St. Luke’s Extended Care Center in Ronan.
Virginia was born on May 5, 1922 in Rupert, ID, the daughter of William and Bertha Johns. Her family moved on a ranch at the foothills of the Mission Mountains. She graduated from high school in St. Ignatius and married Otto Wegner in 1941. Together, they raised four children and continued to ranch in the St. Ignatius area. In 1964, they then moved to Polson.
She was very active in the Lutheran church and was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Polson. Virginia served as a Sunday School teacher, superintendent, a member of the Lutheran Women’s Mission League, and served on the altar guild. She was also involved in the Garden Club and was an avid gardener.
Virginia cooked many meals for thrashing crews on the ranch. She also worked as nurse’s aide at St. Joseph Hospital and nursing home and later worked at Western Bee Supply, where she retired. She was known for her quick and witty humor.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Otto, her son, David, two brothers, Walter and Willard Johns, and an infant sister, Twilla M. Johns.
Virginia is survived by three children, Garry (Joyce) Wegner of Condon, MT, Marilyn (Bill) Pittsley of Polson, and Brenda (Craig) Skrede of Edmonds, WA; four sisters, Wanda Smalley of Missoula, Wilhma Delaney of Polson, and Lavonne Larson of Kalispell, and Dorothy Loudermilk of Bigfork; two brothers, Harold Johns of Butte, MT and Lelland Johns of White Hall, MT; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 23, from 9AM – 7:00 PM at Grogan Funeral Home, 101 Sixth Ave. E., Polson, MT. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 11:00 AM at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Polson with Rev. Kyle Whaley officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Polson and a reception will be held afterwards at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Virginia’s name to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, St. Luke’s Extended Care Center, or any charity of the donor’s choice.

We miss our moms even when we know they have gone to a better, happier place.

Thinking of you all!! Even though we KNOW that Virginia is now in Glory and her earthly struggle is over, we never quit missing our moms. God blessed you with good parents……what a wonderful promise that we will be reunited with them in Heaven one day. Know that we are praying for you!

So sorry to hear that your Mother had passed away. I just spoke to Bab’s Brown the other day and she told me. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I miss her so much and was a great blessing. I will miss her laugh and smiles and the warmth. She will never be forgotten.
