Wilbur “Buzz” Seely, 70, of Hot Springs, MT passed away in the early morning hours 
of Saturday, May 30, 2009 at his home in Hot Springs. Buzz was born on June 8, 1938 in Grandview,WA, son of the late Wilbur and Lorene Crider Seely. He was a simple man who loved life, the world, and what he did. Buzz was a world rodeo champion and won the 1969 NFR in Oklahoma City, OK, although he never bragged about his many accomplishments. A memorial service to honor Buzz’s life will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 4 PM at Wildhorse in Hot Springs. I remember Buzz as a very talented rider. As secretary of the Northwest Rodeo Association as it was known then, we express our condolences to the family.
The staff at The Competitor is saddened to hear of the loss of one of our own.
Buzz blazed trails for what we know as rodeo today. He will be missed.

if there ever was a real man/loving father/champion cowboy who lived his life to the fullest everyday, in or out of the arena, it was Buzz. He did it his way, the best way…The Cowboy Way. He was the real deal !!
He will be missed by us all trying ride the trail that he helped to blaze. Happy Trails, Buzz !

I miss my grampa! The last words i said to him were, “Bye, love you.” I lived in Arizona when he died, so i didn’t get to see him. I knew him as a cranky yet loving cowboy. He lost his temper most of the time, but he always loved me and my family. After he died, my dad, my cousin, my sister, and I went up to montana for the funeral. After the funeral we stayed for a while then the day we were leaving i got one of his cowboy hats. To this day, it still rests at the end of my bed, in proper condition. I LOVE YOU GRAMPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
